Curator and Author

A distinguished stained-glass scholar and conservation consultant, Julie L. Sloan is the curator of Light Screens: The Leaded Glass of Frank Lloyd Wright and the author of its two companion volumes to be published in May 2001 by Rizzoli International Publications. Her research on the leaded glass of Frank Lloyd Wright, which was sponsored in part by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Graham Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, has occupied her for 18 years.

The author of Conservation of Stained Glass in America, as well as of numerous articles on the history of stained glass and its conservation, Sloan is an adjunct professor of historic preservation at Columbia University, where she has taught stained glass restoration since 1985. She has also taught at Williams College and Reneselaer Polytechnic Institute, and has given seminars on glass conservation around the country. She is currently working on a book about the stained glass of artist John La Farge.

Julie Sloan has a BA in art history from New York University and a MS in historic preservation from Columbia University.
